New England in the Fall is genuinely one of Planet Earth's most spectacular events! The leaves typically change colour from mid-September to mid-October, however the best colours are often seen in early October. One of the most scenic drives in New England is the Kancamagus Highway which bursts with colour in the fall. The roughly 35-mile remote route takes travellers through White Mountain National Forest, with views of the White Mountains in the distance and the smell of fresh pine up close.
Boston - Walk the city’s brick-lined Freedom Trail to see landmarks that teleport you back to the Revolutionary War. Every neighbourhood has its own vibe that’s worth getting to know. Spend an afternoon in the North End, taste-testing cannoli from Italian-American bakeries. Or people-watch from a bench in Boston Common, which locals treat as an extension of their living room.
Cape Cod is strewn with quaint harbours, windswept beaches, glorious dunes and romantic lighthouses. Explore Cape Cod National Seashore, bike past cranberry bogs on the Rail Trail or saunter around Sandwich, the Cape's oldest town. Many areas are full of architectural and culinary gems - weathered shingles, whaling captains' mansions, chowder shacks and upmarket dining delights. Don't miss Woods Hole Oceanquest, famed Martha's Vineyard or charmingly lively Provincetown.
New York City boasts the tallest skyscrapers, the biggest museums and the cheesiest pizza. It’s easy to see why it’s the most-visited place in the U.S. You can spend the day neighbourhood-hopping, from the family-friendly Upper West Side packed with playgrounds and cute restaurants to the gritty-but-cool Lower East Side, each has its own vibe. Browse art galleries in Chelsea, go shopping in SoHo, then grab a drink in the East Village. Or, take the subway (or walk across the Brooklyn Bridge) and cruise the cobblestone streets in Dumbo.
Washington DC - From its iconic monuments and buildings to its historic neighbourhoods and free museums, the capital of the United States offers a huge array of attractions. D.C. is especially known for its museums. From the Holocaust to the history of space exploration and from dinosaurs to international spies, but don't miss the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, the National Gallery of Art, the Pentagon, and the National Archives where you can see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Virginia Beach is located where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. You can take a stroll along the boardwalk, dine in welcoming restaurants with waterfront views and relax on wide-open beaches. Visit military base Fort Story to see the two historic Cape Henry Lighthouses, which were built in 1792 and 1881.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore extends more than 70 miles from South Nags Head to Ocracoke Inlet, covering 30,000 acres. The first national seashore in the country includes natural and historic attractions, such as lighthouses and lifesaving stations.
Myrtle Beach is known for its beautiful sandy beaches, warm weather, and a wide range of activities, making it a popular vacation destination. Visitors often enjoy: Beaches: The area boasts miles of coastline, ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and beach sports.
Charleston delivers small-town charm in spades, from the shady courtyards and old Victorian homes to the horse-drawn carriages and gorgeous beaches. Historic sites include, Middleton Place, Fort Sumter National Museum, the French Quarter and a dynamic, ever-evolving food scene.
Savannah If Southern charm was a place, it’d be called Savannah. With its walkable streets and oak trees dripping in Spanish moss. Old over-the-top mansions, historic churches, cobblestoned streets collides with the new culinary trailblazers, local arts, eclectic shops. Stroll down the iconic River Street or spend an artsy afternoon in the Starland District—you really can’t go wrong.
Key West is Located closer to Cuba than to Miami, Key West is Florida’s irreverent southernmost subtropical paradise, a unique blend of history, climate, natural beauty, cultural diversity, architecture and unabashed romantic appeal. Palm-lined streets with gingerbread mansions and tin-roofed conch houses were home to Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Frost and Jimmy Buffett, a few of the famous people who discovered solace and inspiration in the island city, whose heritage in large part was inspired by Bahamian wreckers, commercial fishermen, spongers and Cuban cigar makers.
Weather in Key West in October - You’ll enjoy some very comfortable and dry days. Daytime temperatures in October remain in the 80s, and nights generally stay in the 70s.
