Enjoy an amazing 10 Day Drive & Cruise Tour combining a visit to the spectacular Beautiful Alsace Region with a
5 Day Rhine in Flame Cruise on CroisiEurope’s Premium vessel the MS Gerard Schmitter. You'll enjoy the spectacle of a countryside illuminated in the radiance of the "Rhine in Flames" as the river valley basks in thousands of red Bengal lights and magnificent hilltop firework displays. The Alsace is idiosyncratic and colorful at the same time, and that’s why it’s so appealing. With its splendid cathedral and irresistible backdrop of old half-timbered houses and canals.
The Rhine in Flames welcomes you to the enchanted world of firelight! On a magical summer evening an ever-changing kaleidoscope of lights erupts above the river and shimmering cascades of colour plunge into the romantic Rhine Valley. Europe's biggest river boat parade makes the trip from Spay to Koblenz. More than 60 river boats glide down the river past romantic Rhine villages, fortresses and castles. Both sides of the river are lit up by Bengal torches, as are the fortresses and many villages. The river pageant is accompanied by fireworks before the unique huge fireworks display is set off, bathing the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz in magical light.

The Alsace is idiosyncratic and colorful at the same time, and that’s why it’s so appealing. With its splendidcathedral and irresistible backdrop of old half-timbered houses and canals, the city of Strasbourg sets the tone. Further south, Colmar, the old centre of which is crisscrossed by romantic cobbled lanes and interlocking waterways, is another feast for the eyes. No trip to Alsace is complete without a meander on the Route des Vins (Alsace Wine Route), one of France’s most cherished wine roads. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will find invigorating escapes by heading further up to the Massif des Vosges (Vosges Mountains).
The Mighy Rhine is by definition an international river. It takes its source in the Alps, in the Swiss Grisons, and flows over 1350 kilometres further into the North Sea in, Holland (Netherlands), where it meets the waters of the Meuse before exploding into several estuaries. As the border river between Switzerland and Austria, between Switzerland and Germany, between France and Germany where it remains in Alsace for 180 kilometres, it separates the Vosges and Black Forest between Basle and Mainz. Its course then goes to Luxembourg and the Netherlands where it becomes broader and more powerful. The Rhine is the 29th longest river of the world after the Danube (2892 kilometres) and in front of the Loire (1010 kilometres). The river does not cross any city, it runs along them. This is the case in Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Mainz, Koblenz, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Strasbourg, which are the major Rhine ports and some of our outstanding stops.
