A wonderful tour of the South West 500 through two of England's most popular counties, Devon and Cornwall. From the bustling cities of Plymouth and Exeter, to the varied coastlines of the Jurassic Coast in the east and the English Riviera, with its palm trees and abundance of family friendly holiday resorts in the south, Devon has it all. Cornwall is loved for its dramatic coastline with its captivating fishing harbours, its spectacular beaches and of course their world-famous Cornish pasties, cream teas and fresh seafood.
Devon boasts five areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO Geopark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and two National Parks, perhaps the most famous of which is Dartmoor. Its rugged beauty, and that of the Greater Dartmoor area around it, inspired Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles, and has been used as the backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters. Whether it be shingle or sandy, cliff-lined or surrounded by dunes, Devon’s beaches are some of the most wonderfully diverse you’ll find in the country.

Cornwall with its granite cliffs, picture postcard harbours, and wide sandy beaches has been a holiday favourite for generations. Cornwall also has a rich cultural heritage and this has left an indelible mark on the landscape. From ancient stones to the ghosts of the mining industry, there are constant reminders you are in a special part of the country. Cornwall's beaches are unrivalled elsewhere in Britain for their beauty, variety and never-ending stretches of golden sands and are often framed by picturesque coastal towns, of which Newquay is the most renowned. Also dotted along the spectacular coastline are enchanting fishing villages and harbours such as Looe, Port Isaac, Portreath and Mousehole.
