The beautiful island of Majorca is packed full of awe-inspiring views, incredible sights and unbeatable coastlines. One of the best ways to experience everything Majorca has to offer is by hitting the open road. Various driving routes can be taken across the island and are perfect for a driving adventure.
Imagine an island with turquoise blue waters, secret coves, soft golden sands, lush green foliage, rugged mountains, picturesque villages and a vibrant capital city... that's Majorca in a nutshell. The island and its capital, Palma, are overflowing with character, while its beaches are famous all around the world, making it one of the most sought-after destinations.
Driving in Majorca - Sa Calobra has been declared a national monument by the Balearic Government and is a beautiful cove in the Tramuntana Mountains. Take the MA-10 towards Escorca and pass by the Cubar and Gorg Blau reservoirs on the way. You will drive the famous curve of Nudo de Corbata heading into the stunning harbour village of Sa Calobra.
For Mallorca’s most dramatic scenery, the Formentor Cape is the driving route you need. Setting off from the ancient town of Pollenca is a famous stretch of road. Consequently, it is a road many consider as one of the most scenic routes in the world. The views from the stunning cliffside do not disappoint. Along the way, you can visit Alcudia, a medieval town that many claim is the oldest city in the Balearic Islands. You can have a pit stop at Alcudia Beach, which is a wonderful sandy beach with shallow waters.
Popular Resorts - Resort-wise, families flock to the shores of Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa and Cala Bona, which are brimming with restaurants, shops and cafés. Ca’n Picafort is another favourite. This former fishing village has got a 13-kilometre ribbon of sand to its name. Sa Coma, meanwhile, is great for couples thanks to its tree-lined prom and romantic eateries.
The Pyrenees separates the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of Europe, stretching more than 430km between Spain and France and rising higher than 3400m in elevation. The Pyrenees offers a gorgeous landscape of high mountains, green valleys, dramatic gorges, pristine lakes, and rushing waterfalls. The important towns lie along the rivers, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The Pyrenees include the spectacular Parc National des Pyrénées (National Park of the Pyrenees Mountains) which straddles the border of both France and Spain.
