Lake Como is the most spectacular of the region’s three major lakes. Shaped like an upside-down Y, its winding shoreline is dotted with ancient villages and exquisite villas. The lake’s main town, Como, sits where the southern and western shores converge.
Lake Como has so much to offer. The resorts of Menaggio, Tremezzo, Cadenabbia and Lenno are situated on the sunny, western shore with Bellagio perched on the promontory that divides Como and Lecco. Bellagio and Menaggio, the largest resorts, are characterised by a buzzing cosmopolitan atmosphere with quaint, cobbled alleyways and café-filled piazzas. The adjacent villages of Tremezzo and Cadenabbia hug the road from Como to Switzerland and provide great bases for exploring.
The Stelvio Pass, at 2757m, is one of the highest and most dramatic mountains passes in the Alps. You’ll experience the drive down the famous switchbacks driving through the heart of the Stelvio National Park before starting the descent, which takes you through some great stretches of alpine forest and fast sweeping roads prior to your arrival at the foot of the pass. The drive down to Bormio is a spectacular drive and has a few vantage points to stop and take pictures of the valley.

Alexander and Gerbi Hotels
The family-run Hotel Alexander and Gerbi friendly hotel resort, comprising of the 4* Hotel Alexander and 3* Hotel Gerbi, as well as a separate spa building, located on the northern shore of Lake Lucerne. Just 1KM from the centre of Weggis, complete with outdoor pool and gardens which look over the lake and 1,500 square-metre spa.
On-site car parking and panoramic lakeview restaurant are located in the Alexander Hotel building. Spa and wellness facilities are shared between the two hotels with an impressive selection of saunas, steam rooms, and relaxation areas - you'll not want to leave.
Hotel du Golf de l'Ailette
You will see this hotel featured on several of our tours; we like it a lot. Located on the banks of the Ailette River, this hotel offers panoramic views of the lake, as well as outdoor terrace and seating area for when the sun is shining. All rooms face the lake and feature modern rooms amenities with a private balcony. The restaurant provides good quality food. Our only honest feedback is the bar is quite expensive, made all the worse by the fact there are no alternative bars or restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Parking is available on site and free of charge. Disabled access rooms are available. Pets are permitted but charges apply.
Hotel Alpenblick
The Alpenblick hotel is a family business, situated about 600 metres from the centre of Grindelwald, right at the ski slope and a bus stop, and offers nice rooms and tasty food. In the restaurant and on the sunny terrace guests can select from fresh hot sandwiches, steaks, salads and desserts. Cheese fondue is available as well. The trendy bar is the meeting point in the afternoon and for Après-Ski and in the evening. Guests can also play billiard, dart and enjoy good music. All rooms have heating and safety deposit box. Free parking is avaliable on site. Pets are permitted on request, charges may apply. This hotel only offers stairs to access upper floors.
Lenno Hotel, Albergo
Hotel Lenno is set in an elegant building just off the main road, and right on the shore of Lake Como, in the fantastic Gulf of Venus. At the Lenno you can spend relaxing moments on the lake-view terrace or by the the swimming pool. There is also a sauna. At Hotel Lenno you can taste typical Italian dishes and prestigious wines, enjoying an enchanting view on the lake. Some rooms offer a lake view, other rooms are spacious attics. Hotel Hirschen
Hirschen Hotel is a traditional Black Forest inn with classic rooms and regional cuisine. Situated in the heart of the forest, it’s ideal for scenic drives and outdoor exploration. It consists of the main building, built in 1757 in traditional wooden style, the forest house and bathhouse, which were completely rebuilt and modernized in 2024. The Hirschen offers an award-winning gourmet restaurant, a new spa area with saunas and an ecologically heated outdoor pool, as well as gardens. In addition to bedrooms and bathrooms, all Hirschen Homes also have a kitchen-living room. Parking spaces in the underground car park and outdoors are free. Free WiFi is available in all areas. Novotel Nancy Ouest
Novotel Nancy is located 5 km from the centre of Nancy close to the major highways to Lyon, Paris, Metz and Strasbourg. It features comfortable and fully renovated rooms inleafy surroundings as well as an outdoor swimming pool. La Cachette, the restaurant, invites you to taste contemporary French cuisine or to enjoy a cocktail. Families are welcome and the Novotel Nancy boasts a small indoor play area for children.
