Who we are and what we do
Scenic Car Tours is a trading division of Albatross Motoring Limited and a part of the Albatross Group Limited and as such, has a wealth of experience in marketing, promoting and organising specialist touring holidays and short breaks throughout the UK and Europe.
As a group we have a clearly defined Purpose and Ambition and so our people are clear on the part they play in our success. We are a values driven organisation and have come up with 3 core values and associated behaviours in what we call The Albatross Way. Everything we do is driven by these.
How our tours work
We provide pre packaged self drive holidays for you, as well as custom built holiday for clubs and groups of friends This is your holiday, so we design our tours to be as flexible as possible.
What We Provide
Instead of an escort, we give you a detailed road book. This includes:

Information about your hotels

Detailed maps with both direct and scenic route options

Routes shown in clear, chronological order

Suggested points of interest and attractions along the way

In some cases we may include access to our digital road book and navigation app

Your road book will include any tickets or vouchers to include attractions or points of interest, plus a participants list showing the names of fellow travellers and their car details that may be on the same trip.
Because of the number of tours we operate, we cannot personally drive every route. For this reason, we do not provide step-by-step (tulip-style) directions.
However, based on feedback from thousands of previous clients, we clearly highlight:

This allows you to choose the route you prefer — direct, scenic, or a mix of both.
Are our tours hosted or escorted? - In most cases, our tours are not escorted. There are two main reasons:

We run over 250 tours each year, mostly in May, June, and September. It would be very difficult to find enough staff to escort them all.

Having a tour escort would make the tours much more expensive, as we would need to cover their wages, accommodation, meals, fuel, tolls, and other costs.

Booking process

Book Your Holiday – Choose your tour and confirm your booking with a deposit either online or over the phone.

Pay Balance (10 Weeks Before Departure) – Pay the remaining amount no later than 10 weeks before you travel.

Receive Travel Pack (21 Days Before Departure) – We’ll send your road book, maps, hotel details, and any tickets around 3 weeks before departure.

Set off and enjoy your road trip!
Tickets and Tour Information
If your tour includes extra activities, tickets or vouchers will usually be placed at the front of your road book. For high-value tickets, we may send them separately by post. If so, this will be clearly noted in your road book.
At the front of your road book, you will also find a participants list. This shows:

The names of other people on your tour

The make and model of their cars
So you can recognise them on the road or in the hotel car park!

Your money is safe
It’s important to know the company that you are dealing with can be trusted to protect your money until after your holiday is complete. As members of ABTOT, the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited we provide financial protection under the Package Travel Regulations 2018. In the event of our insolvency, protection is provided for Non-flight packages and Flight inclusive packages that commence outside of the EEA. In these cases ABTOT will provide a refund in the event you have not yet travelled or repatriation if you are abroad. Please note: bookings made outside the EEA are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with Scenic Car Tours. In the unlikely event that you require assistance whilst abroad due to our financial failure, please call ABTOT on 020 7065 5311.
