Enjoy a wonderful tour that includes mountain passes and historic cities with a stay in a spectacularly restored ancient castle overlooking Italy’s Prosecco wine region!

CastelBrando, one of the largest and oldest castles in Europe, enjoys a unique location halfway between the enchanting city of Venice and the stunning Dolomites, majestically rising amidst the picturesque Prosecco hills. The name ‘CastelBrando’ originates from Brandolino IV, who was granted the fortress and its possessions in 1439 by the Republic of Venice for his bravery on the battlefield. The castle stayed in the Conti Brandolini family until 1959, when it was sold to the Salesian Fathers and transformed into a centre for spiritual studies. In 1997, the current owners acquired CastelBrando and carried out an extensive restoration, restoring its historic charm and splendour.

Please note: CastelBrando is a 2000-year-old property, although there are lifts available in the hotel and most floors are accessible, due to the historical nature of the building, there may be quite a distance from your bedroom to the restaurant, breakfast room, and reception. There are some steps within the corridors and some bedrooms. Many of the bathrooms are quite small as they have been retrofitted into the historic structure of the castle, which was never designed with plumbing in mind. If you have any mobility restrictions, please call us to discuss your individual needs prior to booking to ensure that we are able to offer you a suitable room and comfortable stay.

The Prosecco Wine Route (Strada del Vino Prosecco) is the direct heir of what was, in 1966, Italy’s first Wine Road. It stretches from Conegliano’s School of Wine Making and ends in Valdobbiadene. The route will allow you to admire long stretches of hillsides enveloped by Prosecco vines, small villages, wineries and ancient stone houses.

Bassano del Grappa sits charmingly on the banks of the River Brenta as it winds its way through Alpine foothills and plains to the famous Venetian Lagoon. It is one of the best-kept secrets in northern Italy.

Marostica rises head and shoulders above its neighbours in its characteristic natural setting on the slopes of the Asiago Plateau. Famous throughout the world as the ‘City of Chess’. Every two years a medieval themed festival is held here, when a giant chess game is enacted with human chess-pieces in the town square.

Venice is arguably the most romantic city in the world and is home to stunning architecture and a labyrinth of mysterious passageways. Explore the Grand Canal, reflecting the glories of Venetian architecture lining its banks, the Doge’s Palace and the Basilicas of San Marco & Santa Maria della Salute.
