The Black Forest is one of Germany’s largest and best-known regions. Here, you will be treated to quaint half timbered buildings to admire, as they nestle in delightful historic towns and villages. There are also dramatic gorges carved by the River Rhine, plus of course those magnificent cuckoo clocks and the famous Black Forest Gateau. This scenic tour is based in the delightful village of Hornberg, set in the beautiful Gutach mountain valley, in the district of Reichenbach in the heart of the Black Forest.
Schwarzwaldhochstraße is the ultimate driving road of the Black Forest region and no visit would be complete without a drive on it. At about 3,000 feet/900m, the 44-mile/70km stretch of the B500 road runs along the ridges of a low mountain range. Along the way, you can look up at the 4,900-ft/ 1,493m Feldberg summit, the highest point in the Black Forest, and down into some spectacular ravines.
Other Attractions Include: The National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse featuring over 400 classic and vintage vehicles and including the famous Schlumpf Collection. The Alsace Wine Road and the picture-postcard town of Colmar. The Mercedes-Benz Factory in Sindelfingen.
