The Yorkshire Dales Tour Itinerary
DAY 2 - Breakfast followed by the day at leisure in Harrogate
OR - Join your fellow driving enthusiasts on a spectacular drive through the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Our suggested routing today takes you to Bolton Abbey then following the B6160 via Grassington, Kettlewell and Ougthtershaw to Hawes in Wensleydale. Here you can visit the Wensleydale Creamery & visitor centre and enjoy a 'Taste of Yorkshire' in their 1897 Coffee Shop or lunch in Calvert's Restaurant with stunning views over the Dales. From here you can take a drive on one of Britain's Top Driving Roads, Buttertubs Pass, from Hawes to Muker in Swaledale. The Buttertubs Pass is a 6 mile stretch of road, described by motoring guru Jeremy Clarkson as ‘England’s only truly spectacular road’. Driving Buttertubs is a ‘must do’ if you’re on a Dales roadtrip. There’s no denying it’s a special drive, though we’d describe it more as scenic than truly spectacular, as it winds its way along the pass given its name by the 20 metre deep limestone pot holes in the area. Return to Harrogate and the hotel late afternoon. Dinner is included at the Best Western Cedar Court Hotel (£25 Per Person Dining Credit included each Night in the Porterhouse Restaurant)
Please note: The evening is at leisure on our 2019 tours
DAY 3 - Breakfast followed by the day at leisure in Harrogate
OR - Our suggested routing today takes you south west to the market town of Otley. For fans of the TV soap Emmerdale, Otley is better known as Hotten. Emmerdale was orginally filmed in the quaint village of Arncliffe in the valley of Littondale, however in 1976 it was moved to the village of Esholt, just 6 miles south of Otley. Nowadays, the interior scenes are filmed in a studio in Leeds, while the exteriors are shot on a purpose-built set on the Harewood estate. From Otley you'll follow the A65 via the spa town of Ilkley to Settle, a wonderful, bustling, historic Yorkshire Dales market town at the gateway to Upper Ribblesdale and home to the world famous Settle-Carlisle Railway. The town is full of quality independent shops, cafés, inns and restaurants and is an ideal place for a lunch stop before via Helwith Bridge, Horton-in-Ribblesdale, and selside to the spectacular Ribblehead Viaduct. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure before returning to Harrogate and the hotel late afternoon. Dinner is included at the Best Western Cedar Court Hotel (£25 Per Person Dining Credit included each Night in the Porterhouse Restaurant) - Please note: The evening is at leisure on our 2019 tours.
DAY 4 - Breakfast followed by a mid morning departure from Harrogate and the hotel. Again dependant on where to live, you have the opportunity to plan your route home to take in some local sights or attractions en-route.
