OR - Join your fellow driving enthusiasts on a spectacular drive on the Black Mountain Road (A4069) a famous road that twists, dips and climbs in the western part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, along the Black Mountains. It has unrivalled views beyond its hairpin turns and you’ll want to drive it again and again. The road is asphalted and crosses the Black Mountains from Llandovery to Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen. This route has some of the best corners, and just looking at the map below, you can see that this is one hell of a road to drive. This challenging road across Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons is 20.1 mi (32.3 km) long and reaches a height of 493 m (1,617 ft) above the sea level. Expect a mix of fast and tight sections, and to-die-for views when you hit the hairpins. Beware of bumps if you’re driving a low-slung car.
The road includes five of the most memorable miles you can drive in any country. This route has become very popular since it was featured on Top Gear back in 2011, and is also known as the Top Gear road’, after Jeremy Clarkson was filmed driving it. For a mountain road it is in remarkably good order and the best stretches are combinations of bends and straights with clear visibility for miles ahead. If you are lucky, neither tractor nor errant sheep will interrupt your pleasure. There is fantastic scenery stretching miles of beautiful countryside. Be sure to take advantage of the several layby’s on your way to stop and take in the surroundings. Remember to watch out for sheep that will cross the road aimlessly in front of your car! This is an amazing road, well worth a visit for any driving enthusiast. Return to the hotel late afternoon. Dinner is included at the hotel.
DAY 4 (BB) - Breakfast followed by a mid morning departure from South Wales and the Hotel. Again dependant on where you are travelling back to today you'll have the opportunity to plan your route to take in some more local sights or attractions en-route.
DAY 3 (HB) - Breakfast followed by the day at leisure
OR - Enjoy a wonderful day driving along the Pembrokeshire coast. This coastline is 186 miles (300km) long and would take around two and a half weeks to walk! It also involves more ascent than climbing Everest. However, you don't need your hiking boots to see the dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, Atlantic grey seals and leatherback turtles that often visit these shores. The Gower Peninsula has many stunning beaches including Caswell Bay, Port Eynon and Langland Bay. Rhossili Bay was voted as the top beach in the UK and Europe's third best beach in a survey of worldwide tourists. It even made the top 10 list of best beaches in the world! Return to the hotel late afternoon followed by dinner and the evening at leisure.
