ROYAL NORFOLK

& The Norfolk Broads

Norfolk is a unique and beautiful place offering lucky tourists plenty to see and do. It is home to an impressive range of medieval castles including the lavishly built Castle Rising. Norfolk also has an abundance of fine country homes including Holkham, Blickling, Felbrigg Hall and the much-loved country retreat of the Queen, Sandringham. On the east coast Norfolk has some of the most pristine beaches in the UK including Holkham Wells, which has been voted the best beach in Britain.

The Norfolk Broads offer open space and a sense of real peace from the chaos of the modern world. The Norfolk Broads are a mix of shallow lakes fringed with reeds and willows, natural rivers and manmade waterways which offer an unparalleled way to explore the serene countryside. As the Broads are mainly fresh water it is a haven for a host of native British plants and wildlife including a thriving otter population.

Norfolk Garden Trail is a sublime trail of seven of the finest gardens in Norfolk which are bound to inspire awe. The trail includes the Gooderstone Water Gardens, which as the name suggests, is a water garden offering the sights of plants such as bamboos and daylilies. Another garden of note is the Norfolk Lavender where, in summer, you can smell the heady scent of a blooming collection of lavender plants in deep purple fields.

Sandringham is the most famous stately home in Norfolk and has been the beloved private country home of the British monarchy since 1862. The house is still decorated in the Edwardian style and contains many treasures gifted by members of the Russian and European royal families 24 hectares of glorious gardens, considered by many to be the most splendid of all royal gardens.
