ALL VEHICLES WELCOME - NO AGE RESTICTIONS
We're back to the Hermitage Hotel in Montreuil-sur-Mer in 2025 for the popular Beaujolais Weekend Scenic Rally, where you can enjoy the fun and camaraderie on the roads of the Pas de Calais.
Named in honour of the Beaujolais Nouveau Day, which celebrates the splendid harvest of the handpicked local Gamay grape, in the past the Beaujolais weekend was a weekend of Regularity Rallying like no other and was the most popular Classic Rally Tour event. Following the success of the 2024 Memorial Tour, 2025 will return to the well-established competitive format, whilst also offering an option for those who prefer a touring / non-competitive option. Keeping the legacy alive and whilst recounting amazing memories providing the opportunity to create many more.
Beaujolais Nouveau is always released the third Thursday of November, regardless of the start of the harvest. The region of Beaujolais is 34 miles long from north to south and 7 to 9 miles wide. There are nearly 4,000 grape growers who make their living in this picturesque region just north of France's third largest city, Lyon. All the grapes in the Beaujolais region must be picked by hand. These are the only vineyards, along with Champagne, where hand harvesting is mandatory. 'Gamay' is the only grape permitted for Beaujolais. Come and join the event and enjoy a glass or two of Beaujolais at the Sunday Prize Giving Dinner.
Jon Harvey started competing in Regularity Rallies in 2019 with his 1972 MGB Roadster. After several seasons of competing in HERO Challenge events, in 2022 started rallying his newly acquired 1985 VW Golf GTI again in HERO Challenge events. Jon drove the Golf on his first Beaujolais Rally in 2022, but don’t talk about that given a wrong slot in the dark and a failed Brantz on the Sunday morning!
In 2023 Jon also turned his hand to navigating. His first outing sitting on the wrong side of the car was the Bespoke Rallies Spitfire event where he and driver came third overall and first in class. At the HERO Summer Trail in 2023 Jon navigated to 11th overall and first in Class. One of Jon’s highlights of 2023 was winning the HERO Rally for the Ages with his son navigating. Jon drove the Golf again on the Beaujolais in 2023, this time with much more success finishing 2nd overall and first in class, and if wasn’t chased up that hill by a late running Lagonda resulting in being 7 seconds early at the secret control at the top would have won. The one that got away….. Messrs Mann we know who you are!
2024 saw Jon’s busiest season, driving the Golf on three HERO Challenge events, one with his son navigating again. Jack also navigated for Jon at the HRCR Cotswolds Clubman’s rally and in the MGB on the Great Western Rally in Bath and the HERO Rally for the Ages again. Jon also navigated on the HRCR Gremlin in Brecon Beacons and the HERO Summer Trail.
