Arras & The Somme Battlefields Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 (RO) - Morning P&O Ferry Crossing from Dover to Calais (other crossings available on request) After disembarkation in Calais you have the choice of taking the direct route or a more scenic route via Guines, Licques, Lumbres, Fauquembergues, Valbuon and Tincques. Attractions en route include La Coupole, one of the most impressive remnants of the Second World War in Europe. This huge bunker, built by the Todt Organisation in 1943-1944 had to be the base for launching the V2 rockets against London and Le Eperlecques Bunker, an enormous bunker constructed by the Germans in 1943 to accommodate; V-2 reception and storage; preparation of rockets for launch in a sheltered and controlled manner; on site production of liquid oxygen; and launch control with two firing pads. Arrival in Arras and the Mercure Arras Centre Gare Hotel should be mid/late afternoon - Mileage - Direct route approx. 70 miles or the Scenic Route approx. 75 miles.

DAYS 2 & 3 (BB) - The Day at Leisure in Arras

OR - Spend the day exploring the Somme Battlefields, Cemetaries and Monuments

DAY 4 (BB) - Arras to Calais

Departing the hotel and Arras after breakfast, today you will have the opportunity to spend some timeexploring Arras and the Somme before heading back to Calais for your return P&O Crossing back to the UK.

Mileage - Direct route approx. 70 miles or the Scenic Route approx. 75 miles.
