MX-5 Isle of Man Tour Itinerary

Head out via Onchan to Laxey, where you can marvel at the world’s largest working waterwheel, the Great Laxey Wheel. Standing at over 72 feet high the wheel, which is also known as Lady Isabella, has been one of the Isle of Man’s most popular tourist attractions for well over 150 years. You’ll have the opportunity to watch the wheel turning before attempting to climb to the top where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views across the Glen Mooar Valley. Once back on solid ground you can walk through the valley to find the Great Laxey Mines. You can learn about the lives of the miners, walk into the mine audit and take a trip on the Great Laxey Mines Railway which was once used to carry lead and zinc ores from deep inside the Great Laxey Mine. Why not take a trip on the Snaefell Mountain Railway to the summit of the Island’s only mountain, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Seven Kingdoms. The evening is at leisure.

DAY 3 (Tuesday) - Breakfast followed by the day at leisure to enjoy the sights and attractions the Isle of Man has to offer. Experience the grandeur of travelling between Douglas and the south of the Island on a Victorian railway perfectly frozen in time. Visit one of the Island's numerous museums which include: Aviation Museum, Classic Motorcycle Museum, Manx Museum, Manx Transport Heritage Museum, Nautical Museum and the railway Museum to mention just a few.

DAY 2 (Monday) - Mountain Day - Following the TT races, the local government close the road to collect in the signage/cones. They then re-open the road once they have done this. We have arranged for a parking area for 150 cars, near to Ramsey, and as soon as the authorities have confirmed the road is re-open, the MX5’s will be guided from the parking area to the mountain. The mountain should, therefore, be very quiet and the MX5 group will have a good chance of being ‘the first on’ to the mountain once it re-opens to the public. As a public run, normal road rules will apply – however it is worth noting there is no speed limit on certain sections of the mountain road, so should be good fun!

The Mountain Day will also include a safety briefing from an ex-Island Police officer (Location TBC). The day finishes at the famous Creg Ny Baa pub, where they are keeping up their TT marquee to do a ‘buffet style’ afternoon tea and parking for all 150 cars. The evening is at leisure.
