How Our Tours Work....

We are very aware that this is your holiday and as such our tours are designed to be as flexible as possible so that you have the freedom to enjoy your trip to the full !

In most cases we do not escort our tours, there are 2 main reasons for this:

1. Each year we operate over 250 tours, the bulk of which run in May, June & September, so it would be almost impossible for us to find enough staff to cover this number of tours.

2. The price of our tours would increase dramatically, as we would have to include the cost of a tour escort wages and ancillary costs such as; accommodation, meals, fuel, road tolls etc.

So instead of a Tour Escort we supply you with a detailed Road Book featuring a day-by-day suggested itinerary, backed up with a selection of Michelin and Tom Tom Maps showing direct and scenic route options.

In addition your Road Book will feature points of interests, including sights and attractions that you might be interested in visiting en-route.

Road Book 2 Road Book 1

Again due to the volume of tours we operate. it is almost

impossible for us to drive every route on every tour, so a result

we do not include a tulip or other form of step-by-step directions.

Based on the feedback we have received from the 1000's of clients who have

travelled with us on previous tours, we indicate a direct and a scenic route on each map by way of highlighting the towns or cities that you will be passing through to get to your destination. We also indicate on each map many of the points of interest or where the 'good driving roads' are so that you can plan your route accordingly. This gives you the flexibility of choosing which route to take on each section of the tour, albeit direct, scenic or a mixture of both and points of interest that you might like to visit.

Each Road Book contains a day-by-day tour itinerary, this will outline our 'suggested' itinerary for the tour. We are very aware that the reason many people book our tours is because they like to travel with other like-minded people. Our itinerary offers those who wish to travel to the same places on the same day, the opportunity to do so, however for those who like to do their own thing, ours tours are designed to be flexible so that this is also possible.

The Tour itinerary will also indicate approximate daily mileages and your meal basis at your hotel(s) on each day. It will also highlight any special inclusions such as; group meals and any admission that may be included, so please read your itinerary carefully.

Travel Documentation - You will find your 'travel documents' attached at the front of the road book, these documents will contain your; tour overview, ferry/eurotunnel voucher with times and booking reference, hotel voucher(s) showing type of room, number of nights and basis booked. It is important that you check these details as soon as you receive them to ensure all of the arrangements booked for you are correct.

Participants on Each Tour: Our goal is to have around 15 cars on each tour (excluding larger events such as Laon Historique, Angouleme, Le Mans etc). We cannot however guarantee how many cars will book with us and on some occasions the number of cars travelling may fall well below this number. We will make every effort to ensure each tour runs irrespective of the number of cars booked.

Ferry Crossings: Most of our European Tours are based on using P&O Ferries from Dover to Calais. You can however opt to change your route  to Eurotunnel or one of several other ferry companies operating ferry services between the UK and the continent. Dover to Calais is normally the cheapest option, so in most cases changing to a different route will incur an additional charge. Our Irish Tours include crossings with Stena Line fron Holyhead to Dublin, again we can also offer other crossings on request.

Car Parking: Parking is available at ALL of our hotels (unless otherwise stated). In most cases parking at the hotels is included, however, in some cases where this is not possible, parking charges may be payable locally. On some occasions the car parking is independently operated and in this case we may be unable to include the parking charge in our tour price.  We will try whenever possible to let you know the cost of any parking charges.

Breakdown Cover: We do not provide any form of breakdown cover on our tours, again mainly due to cost, but also its impracticality. It is a condition of booking that each driver ensures that they have adequate breakdown cover including; road-side assistance, conveyance of the vehicle to a local garage if it cannot be repaired by the road and repatriation of the car to your home or designated garage if necessary. In this case you should be supplied with a hire car to continue your journey before being repatriated yourself at the end of the tour.

General Driving Information: The front section of each Road Book contains important information such as; passport/visa information, breakdown cover, driving in Europe, EHIC medical card, currencies, vignettes you may require, low emission zones, tax & duty free information plus a check list to make sure you don't forget anything you may need for your trip.

Extending Your Stay: We will be happy to assist you in extending your stay, whether at the beginning or at the end of the tour - please call us for details.

IN ADDITION WE OPERATE A 24 HOUR EMERGENCY HOTLINE TO ASSIST YOU IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WHILE YOU ARE AWAY.
