Q. Do I need a specific type of car to participate on these tours ?
A. No, our tours are designed for the 'driving enthusiast' so you can bring any marque along, however due to the media in which we advertise the majority of cars that book with us are Classic, Modern Classic and Sports Cars.
Q. How many cars normally book on your tours?
A. Obviously we do not have any control over the minimum number of cars that may book on to our tours, however as a guide we would hope to have between 5 and 15 cars per tour. In the case of event led tours, i.e. Laon Historique, Spa Classic etc the number of cars participating can increase significantly.
Q. If there are only one or two cars booked would you cancel the tour?
A. We would only cancel the tour as a last resort and in most cases as long as the hotel is happy to honour our booking with them, the tour would go ahead as planned.
Q. Is our money safe with Scenic & Continental Car Tours?
A. In accordance with the EC Package Travel Directive, Scenic & Continental Car Tours operates a system of client trust accounts – the ultimate in payment protection. This means every penny you pay to us is ring-fenced and audited by an independent firm of accountants and may not be used by us to pay suppliers until you have returned from your holiday. All Flight tour bookings are operated for SCCT by our sister company Success Tours ATOL No. 5114
Q. Are your tours escorted?
A. No, in most cases our tours are un-escorted, however you will receive a 'detailed road book' featuring Maps, Suggested routes, Great drives, Attractions and Points of interest along the way, plus Addresses and GPS co-ordinates wherever possible - Please see 'How Our Tours Work Page'
Q. How many miles do you do each day on your tours?
A. Our daily mileages vary from one tour to another and are dependent on whether you are on a transit-day (the days spent travelling to your main stay or touring region) or generally touring an area. In most cases the mileages are shown on each individual tour itinerary.
Q. Can I add additional stopovers or change my stopovers?
A. We will wherever possible assist you to amend your stopovers, just call our team to discuss your requirements.
Q. What happens if I have a problem whilst I am on a tour?
A. We operate a 24 hour emergency help-line, so there's always someone on hand to assist you.
Q. What happens if I breakdown on a tour?
A. As per our terms and conditions of booking, it is each clients responsibility to ensure that they have adequate Breakdown Insurance Cover. A good policy should include; 24/7 English-speaking helpline, Roadside assistance, transfer of your vehicle to a garage if it cannot be fixed at the roadside, recovery of your vehicle to the UK if the vehicle cannot be fixed locally, replacement hire car to complete the tour and repatriation of the driver and passengers back to the UK.
Q. Do I have to book the 'complete tour' or can I just book a part of the tour?
A. We will wherever possible help you to book just the sector(s) of the tour that you may require.
Q. Do you offer a choice of ferry crossings?
A. Yes of course, we can offer Dover to Calais or Dunkirk, Eurotunnel, Newhaven to Dieppe, Portsmouth to St Malo/Caen/Le Havre/Cherbourg/Bilbao or Santander, Harwich to the Hook of Holland, Hull to Rotterdam/Zeebrugge, Newcastle to Ijmuiden plus a wide range of crossings to Ireland from Fishguard, Pembroke, Holyhead, Liverpool and Cairnryan/Larne. So just let us know what route suits you best or which dates you would prefer to travel and we will give you a revised quotation.
Q. Can I change the car or passenger details once I've made a booking?
A. Yes you can change any of these details and in the majority of cases these changes will not incur any charges. Some carriers i.e, Brittany Ferries, IOM Steam Packet Company levy an amendment fee and in this instance you will be liable for such charges.
In the case of 'flight-tours', once we have booked and confirmed your flight, all changes will incur a charge and these will vary dependent on the individual airline policy.
Q. What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?
A. All of the hotels contracted on our tours are chosen for their location and quality. Most hotels are 'Good 3 to 4 Star' properties and offer comfortable accommodation with private bathroom, toilet and all of the modern conveniences you would expect. See each individual tour for full details.
Q. Do all of your hotels offer secure car parking?
A. Unless otherwise stated, all of the hotels we use offer on-site car parking. Parking at most hotels is complimentary, however in some cases although the hotel has a car park it may be independently operated and charges may apply which can only be paid locally.
Q. What Meals are Included?
A. Meals are as stated on each individual tour/itinerary. In many cases we have included breakfast and dinner. Where dinner is included we try wherever possible to contract a choice of 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 deserts however some hotels only offer a set menu or buffet.
Q. What is NOT included in the tour price?
A. The following items are not normally included; Travel Insurance, Breakdown Insurance, Alternative Ferry Supplements & cabin accommodation,
Room upgrades, Porterage, Meals/drinks other than those stated, Admission/Attraction charges other than those stated, Fuel, Road Tolls, Vignettes, Emission Zone charges, Hire Car charges other than those stated - see individual tours for full details of inclusions.
Q. Do I have to pay a supplement if I am travelling alone?
A. Our prices are calculated on 2 persons occupying a car and sharing a twin or double room, therefore if you are travelling alone a single occupancy supplement will apply - see individual tour for details. We do however guarantee that s a single traveller, we will only ever charge you what the hotel or ferry operator charge us.
Q. Can we bring a dog with us?
A. In most cases, European hotels do allow dogs, unfortunately unlike their European counterparts, most UK hotel do not accept dogs.
In both cases we would need to check with the hotels on each tour before confirming your reservation. Dogs will require a pet passport to travel on the Ferries or Eurotunnel. If confirmed, charges will apply.
Q. Do you offer a currency surcharge guarantee?
A. Yes, from the moment you pay your deposit we guarantee that the price of your tour will not increase as a result of any currency fluctuation.
Q. How much deposit do I need to pay?
A: Unless otherwise stated i.e, some flight tours - our deposit requirement is:
up to £300 = £50.00 per person, £301-£499 = £100.00 per person & over £500 = 20% deposit per person
Q. When is the balance payable?
A. Unless otherwise stated your balance is payable 10 weeks prior to departure.
Q. When will I receive my final travel documents & road book?
A. Your final travel documents will be sent out approximately 14 days prior to departure. Please note: our road books are wrap-packaged and will not fit through a normal letter-box so if there is no one at home to receive the package you should look out for a failed-delivery note from the Post Office.
Q. What happens if I have to cancel a tour? Do I get any money back?

It is essential that when booking a holiday or short break that you have good travel insurance cover to protect you in the case of cancellation.
